FAQs
What area are you based in?
We primarily serve the West River valley in southern VT and surrounding areas. Our shop is located in the wonderful Newfane village. We have completed projects from Putney over to the Mt. Snow area, and from Brattleboro all the way up to Stratton Mtn. ski area. Depending on the project, we may be able to travel further. Get in touch to discuss your location and project needs.
Do I need to have an architect or plans first?
Not necessarily. Depending on the scope and complexity of your project, we may be able to assist with design and planning through our pre-construction contract. Alternatively, we’re happy to connect you with a trusted local designer or architect to help assemble the ideal team for bringing your vision to life.
How long does a typical project take?
Project timelines vary depending on the scope of work. A kitchen or bathroom renovation can take a few weeks, while larger projects like additions or new custom homes may take several months to several years. We provide clear timelines before starting any work and work closely with our trade partners to ensure as timely a completion date for your project as possible.
Do you offer free quotes?
The short answer: it depends. Following an initial phone consultation, we’ll evaluate your project to determine whether we can offer a quick ballpark estimate or if more information is needed. From there, the next steps depend on the size and complexity of your project. For many remodels, we offer a fully itemized and detailed proposal after conducting an on-site consultation, provided at a fixed fee. For larger-scale projects—especially those involving architectural or design collaboration—we may recommend entering into a pre-construction agreement. This allows us to work closely with you to develop detailed plans and a comprehensive, line-by-line proposal.
Will I need planning permission for my project?
Some projects, such as additions and new construction, may require permits from the local authority having jurisdiction. We can advise on the necessary permissions and help with the entire permitting process if needed.
Do you provide a guarantee for your work?
Absolutely! We stand by the quality of our craftsmanship and offer guarantees on our work to give you peace of mind. Specific warranties may vary depending on the type of project—just ask us for details.
Can I stay in my home while the work is being done?
It depends on the type of work being carried out. For smaller projects like bathrooms and kitchens, staying at home may be possible with minimal disruption. However, larger renovations and structural work may require temporary accommodation. We’ll discuss this with you before starting.
How do I get started with a project, and when can you start?
Simply get in touch! We’ll arrange a consultation to discuss your vision, assess your space, and provide expert advice. From there, we’ll give you a clear plan for moving forward. As far as when we can start on your project, it just depends on our schedule. We work on a first come first serve basis. After making a contracted scheduling deposit your project is next in line, it's just that simple.
